3 weeks prior to camp, we received a call from Ashley’s basketball coach. He is a believer who is fighting against cancer (round 2). The coach expressed that reaching all of his players was a priority “this side of Heaven” and wanted to see about getting Ashley into camp. She was resistant to camp but loves basketball, so we assured him that we would place her with a Lady Razorback Basketball Player as her huddle leader…anything to get her on the bus to camp. Ashley came to camp.
Melissa Wolff, starting forward for the Lady Razorbacks & seasoned huddle leader began to pray for Ashley by name during huddle leader training camp. There was an instant connection between Melissa and Ashley. On the first night of camp during the invitation, Melissa recalled:
“My heart began to pound and I knew that the Holy Spirit was at work. I looked at my huddle
and could see Ashley ‘searching’ for someone, we made eye contact and she almost ran
down the aisle to meet me. She was totally unchurched and didn’t know what to say, but she
knew enough to say “I want Jesus”. Right there, Ashley and I knelt at the altar and she in a
broken and transparent prayer, prayed for Jesus to change her. And, He did!
I couldn’t believe that he answered my prayer so quickly…I was thrilled to know that she was
now my sister in Christ AND I was going to get to pour into her for a whole week!”
Angie and Melissa gave the coach a call the next day and was able to share the good news!
